You Will Get There!
A few years ago Alvin bought a Garmin (G.P.S.) for us to use whenever we come to Virginia. In fact, it does not matter where we go we never rent a car without some type of G.P.S. to find our way. These things are great. You can put in any address any where in the U.S.A. and it will take you there. It will take you down streets, back roads and highways you have never traveled but one thing for certain you are sure to reach your destination.
Funny thing, Alvin’s bought a car with a G.P.S. He would use that thing to take him to the store, the post office and most local places he already knew how to get to. I would laugh at him and call him silly for using it for places he already knew how to get to. I would get so aggravated waiting for him while he sit and program that thing to go to a local restaurant. He would tell me you need to practice using it because one day you will need it.
God’s GPS works the same way. In life’s journey a detour on the street of unemployment, the back road of sickness , a highway of financial setback or road blocks of divorce wondering when and if you will ever get to your destination in one piece? Will I ever rebound from this set back? Worry, fear and uncertainty fill our days sensing God has steered us in the wrong direction. I have had enough seemingly wrong turns in life to finally realize that God will get me there no matter how bleak and uncertain my path seems to be. The scripture Jeremiah 29-11 “For I know the plans that I have for you says the Lord” is so true He will get us there no matter how dark or eerie your night may be.
When life takes us down a path we have never traveled, why do we feel God is mad at us, or we are being judged by God? Why do we wring our hands in stress and unbelief as if God has abandoned us? These reactions are so common in christian life. Sometimes we forget how God has reached down and swooped us up from near disasters of the past. It is good to take inventory of how far you have come since the divorce, the lost job, the drug problem death of a parent or spouse or sudden illness. He didn’t leave us then and he want leave us now. God does not delight in seeing you suffer but he does take delight when you put your trust in Him and not things. Read Matthew 6-25-35. We make wrong turns in life when our focus becomes twisted. (Psalm: 37:4) “Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart”.
Remember God will get you there only if you use His GPS!
